Northville High School’s IB Art Gallery Exhibition is now open at the Northville Art House from March 18-29, featuring artwork created by 20 students enrolled in the school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Art program. Through this rigorous experience, students developed problem-solving skills and artistic proficiency by exploring and experimenting with contemporary practices and media.
As the culmination of their journey, each student has carefully curated and installed a selection of their best works, complete with thoughtfully written object labels that provide insight into their creative process. In addition to the in-person exhibit, a virtual gallery featuring the IB students' artwork is available online, where visitors can explore digital slideshows showcasing each artist’s collection.
In preparation for the exhibit, students took an active role in designing their own gallery spaces, transforming individual pieces into cohesive artistic experiences. Senior Lucy expressed her excitement while setting up, saying, “I’m so excited for everyone to come see my art.” Fellow student Evelyn described how seeing all of the pieces arranged in one space changes the experience, saying, “It transforms the whole thing into an official art experience and it’s super exciting.”
Beyond the IB Art Gallery, the Northville High School Virtual Art Exhibition is also launching online, showcasing the work of 24 student artists across a variety of media and styles. Visitors can explore the online gallery through a slideshow and are encouraged to leave comments via a linked form. These reflections will be collected and shared with the students, providing valuable feedback on their work.
Both exhibitions offer an exciting opportunity for the community to experience the depth of talent and creativity at Northville High School. Whether visiting in person or online, don’t miss this chance to support and celebrate these young artists!
