Northville High School continues to make history, earning a Top 25 spot in the prestigious MaxPreps Cup rankings, which recognize the top overall high school athletic programs in the nation. Northville is currently ranked #16 in the country—the only Michigan school to make the list!
The MaxPreps Cup formula awards points for state championships, runner-up finishes, and placement in national rankings. The January standings specifically include all points earned during the fall season, as well as national rankings in boys and girls basketball, boys and girls ice hockey, boys and girls winter soccer, and boys and girls wrestling. Northville’s dominant fall sports performances, paired with strong showings in winter sports rankings, propelled the Mustangs into the national spotlight.
A Season of Championships
The 2024 fall sports season will be remembered as one of the greatest in Northville High School’s history, with three varsity teams capturing state championships.
🏌️♀️ Girls Golf – Division 1 State Champions
The Northville Girls Golf Team delivered an undefeated divisional record (7-0) and set a course record (150) in their first match. Their dominance continued through the Conference Championship, where all five players finished in the Top 5 individually. They carried that momentum through Regionals and ultimately claimed the Division 1 State Championship.
🏃♂️ Boys Cross Country – Division 1 State Champions
For the third consecutive year, the Boys Cross Country team captured the Division 1 State Championship, further solidifying its reputation as a powerhouse program. The Mustangs completed an undefeated season while securing top finishes at prestigious meets.
🏐 Volleyball – Division 1 State Champions
Northville’s Volleyball team made history with its first-ever state title, defeating Rockford 3-1 in the finals. After years of falling just short, the Mustangs powered through an incredible 41-2 season to finally bring home the championship.

🎾 Boys Tennis – 2-Doubles State Champions
Brian Zhang and Nik Karnani captured the State Championship at 2-Doubles, finishing their season with a 30-2 record. As the #3 seed, they defeated Skyline in the semifinals and clinched the title with a dramatic three-hour, three-set victory over Troy.
