Suicide Prevention Month: FREE Movie Screening and Panel

We know September is a busy month but we wanted to take the time to highlight a free event as part of Suicide Prevention Month.
 
Northville CARES (Connecting to Advance Resources, Engagement, and Support) is a collaborative effort of several local City of Northville and Northville Township agencies, organizations, businesses and schools to share resources and programming available to Northville families.
 
Northville CARES will be putting on a *free movie screening that is open to all parents in and outside of Northville Public Schools. The event will feature the movie "Death is Not the Answer" that was made by Keith Famie (a local filmmaker). We are fortunate to have Chuck Gaidica moderate this event which will also feature a panel that includes local agency representatives as well as Eric Hipple and Kevin Fischer.
 
Please join us on September 14th at 6:30pm at Northville High School Auditorium.

September Suicide Prevention Awareness Month - Northville CARES and its partner organizations have teamed up to provide programs and activities to increase suicide prevention efforts in our community. Scheduled Events: Sept. 16 NAMIWalks Michigan, Team Northville - Suicide Prevention Coalition 8AM-Noon, Wayne State University. Sept. 23 Youth Mental Health First Aid Training 8AM-4PM, Northville Township Hall. Sept. 24 Color Run for Suicide Prevention 11AM, Northville High School Track. TBD Everybody vs Stigma Week. Spotlight Event: Film Screening & Panel Discussion. The Emmy nominated documentary Death is Not the Answer delves deeply into the complex, often misunderstood world of depression and suicide. The film features many of the nation's most respected mental health professionals and touches on the experiences of a cross-section of individuals including youth and adults, firefighters, first responders, police, and veterans. The film offers enlightened thoughts of how we can find contentment and happiness through mind-body health, diet and music, and provides stories of hope and healing for those affected by suicide and mental health challenges. Following the film will be a panel discussion with representatives from Hegira Health, Northville Township and City Police Departments, NHS Color My World, Reset Brain&Body, New Hope Center for Grief Support, Western Wayne County Suicide Prevention Coalition, NAMI Michigan, Kevin Fischer, and Eric Hipple. Introduction by Keith Famie, filmmaker. Panel moderated by Chuck Gaidica. September 14th at 6:30pm at Northville High School Auditorium. Free event.
