Classroom Close-Up: Ms. Brannon, NHS Classroom Close-Up: Ms. Brannon, NHS For this Classroom Close-Up we visited Ms. Brannon's business class that runs the N Den, which is the school store at Northville High School. Show Transcript Hi I'm Mrs. Brannon, I'm a teacher here at the high school and I work in the business and marketing department. I have a classroom upstairs but right here is my student lab, the N Den, so come on in and see what we're up to today. So in the store the students get to run the cash register on each of the lunches they balance out and they're responsible for making sure that the amount of cash that's in the drawer is where they end up at the end of the shift. We have students that run security that maintain the number of proper customers in the store so things don't get too crowded and then we have some staff that works behind the counter that will also grab the products that the different customers are looking for. When the students are in the classroom, they're learning about purchasing inventory and right now our project is to design and order some new hats so we can start selling some beanie winter hats as everything starts to get a little bit colder outside. So check out what they're doing right now. I think this class is beneficial because I took it myself last year, that's how I became a manager this year, and this class teaches you a lot about management and management skills and being able to run your own store in the future. I like the that this class is more of like student-ran so the way that the looks of it, like how the LED lights are up and everything, that was more the manager's decisions and what we wanted to do and also with all the snacks and we do have this year is all student based.
