5/26/22 – At the Northville Board of Education meeting on May 24, 2022, the Board voted on a new board member to fill the open seat recently vacated by Board Trustee Suzanne Lynn. The Board conducted a final round of interviews with three finalists Dr. Kimberly Campbell-Voytal, Dr. Tejpreet Kaur Nakai, and Tammy Raffle. Following thoughtful deliberation, the Board unanimously voted for Dr. Campbell-Voytal as the new board member.
Each of the six trustees commented on the caliber of the candidates stepping up for consideration. “All three candidates knocked it out of the park qualification wise. The professionalism they brought to the process, responding to questions, and being in the public spotlight, I think you all did fantastic,” stated Trustee Lindsey Wilson. “Thank you to the folks that volunteered to step forward in public service. It really says a lot about your character. It’s invigorating to see that folks are still interested in stepping forward in this kind of role and you’re to be commended for that.”
Board president Sarah Prescott stated, “I’ll just echo what my colleagues have pointed out [including] your obvious credentials, your obvious capabilities of serving, and your commitment. It’s so pivotal to me that we get somebody on this board that people can really work with. It will be the last thing I do on this board to continue to have a board that has the class and the integrity and the humility to come together in the ways I’ve seen this board come together in the last couple of months.”
Dr. Campbell-Voytal has signed the School Board Member Acceptance of Office and Oath of Office, and will take her seat on the Board of Education beginning on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 through December 31, 2022, when Ms. Lynn’s term was set to conclude.
"We have an outstanding Board of Education that has helped our district be among the best in the state. I am pleased and excited to have the opportunity to learn from them and to work to serve Northville kids, families, and community with honor,” stated Dr. Campbell-Voytal.
There will be three Board of Education seats up for election in the next regular school board election in November, 2022 for four-year terms running from January, 2023 through December, 2026.
