Following a positive case of COVID-19 within the Northville Public Schools transportation operations office requiring the quarantine of non-driving staff and the absences of bus drivers resulting in a bus driver shortage, Durham Transportation Services, our contracted transportation company, has temporarily deployed office support and additional drivers to facilitate transportation needs of the District, together with the support of our current available transportation staff.
Each substitute bus driver has received their route assignment to review, along with the District safety protocols required of our regular staff, in preparation for Tuesday morning. While these are experienced drivers, they have not driven the specific routes to which they have been assigned, so please continue to be patient in the event that delays are experienced.
Northville Public Schools will continue to closely monitor the situation, with Durham Transportation Services, with the safety of our students and staff at the forefront. We appreciate the Durham drivers and staff who have stepped up to cover routes and the transportation operations office, some of whom have travelled across state lines to provide support for the staffing shortage in Michigan.
Please feel free to contact the Transportation Office at 248-465-2070 or Mike Zopf, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, at ZopfMi@northvilleschools.org or 248-344-3511 if you have any questions about transportation.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. We are grateful for your understanding, patience and partnership as we focus on the safety, health and well-being of all during this challenging time.
