Strive for a Safer Drive (S4SD) is a high school safe driving initiative.

Strive 4 A Safer Drive (S4SD) is a teen driving initiative aimed at reducing serious traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities among Michigan's most inexperienced drivers - teens.

October is an important month for high school kids staying safe behind the wheel for two reasons:


National Teen Driver Safety Week starts October 18th
October has the highest number of Michigan car crashes involving a high school age driver


Michigan Auto Law is in its sixth year of offering a scholarship opportunity to promote teen auto safety and eliminate distracted driving.

We offer this scholarship annually with a deadline of March 31st, 2021.  Here are the details:


2021 Kelsey’s Law Distracted Driving Scholarship


A total of $5,000 in college scholarships will be awarded in April among 4 winning student submissions throughout the state. High school juniors and seniors are eligible.  The deadline is March 31st, 2021.  To learn more and apply, visit

Michigan Department of Treasury - Student Financial Services Bureau

For students to have access to the MiSSG Student Portal, they must have a current-year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file (typically received 3-4 days after submission) or have a Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) record.
